Hola Tangueros! Here are the latest tango happenings in our area . . . .
David Caditz and Lisette Perelle are going to be visiting from San Francisco in late July through early August. David was one of the founders of TangoMontana in Bozeman and of the whole tango scene in Montana. They'll be offering a range of classes, performances, and a workshop -- some of this in Helena, some in Bozeman. David's a very fine dancer and teacher, and it sounds like Lisette is as well. Their schedule is outlined below. For more details, please see our website, www.tangohelena.com
Performances in Helena: "For Those of Us"
Artisan Dance (Helena's only professional ballet and modern dance company) will present an evening of dance entitled "For Those of Us, " which will include two Argentine tango pieces as well as modern dance and ballet. Performances are on Wednesday July 30th, Friday August 1st, and Saturday August 2nd, at 8:00pm, at the Myrna Loy Center. Tickets are $20 for general admission, $17 for seniors and students. There's an additional children's matinee performance (which may or may not include tango) at 2:00pm on Thursday July 31st, with tickets for only $5.
David and Lisette will be performing the two tangos, with four couples from the TangoHelena community participating as background extras in one of the pieces. Artisan Dance is always worth watching, and this time you can also watch a couple of great tangos and cheer on your friends!
Classes in Helena
Lisette and David are offering private and public classes in Helena on Saturday and Sunday, August 2nd and 3rd. Lessons will be given at the Big Sky Dance Works Studio in the Colwell Building, 62 S. Last Chance Gulch (former site of Miller's Cave, accessible from the walking mall). On Sunday, an open public lesson for beginners takes place at 4:00pm and is $15/person at the door. Private lessons are by reservation only, arranged by calling Artisan Dance director Sallyann Mulcahy at 447-5508 (work) or 439-2672 (cell).
